What is the big deal about tabbing songs?

The more it is played the more people will be interested in the original.

You want to make money selling the cd
charging for a concert
and someone who wants to play your song for fun?

It is not like they will do better than you, after all you are the originator, the inovator.


So fill us in please.

I don't know, what IS the big deal with it?

Are you asking, "why aren't there more of them?" or is there something going on with them being available but expensive? I only play a little guitar so I really haven't looked for them at all online.

For a long time tabbed songs have been available on the web in one form or another. I first downloaded the text files from the university of Las Vegas using a ftp client way back in the days of netscape 1.0 and I was still using a mac performa 600/cd. They seemed to proliferate for a while going into bass guitar etc, but now you see site after site shutting down due to the threat of being sue over rights.
There is only so much money in the world guys, you do not need it all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and they say covering a song is the highest form of flattery.

Nope, it's a full-size acoustic guitar. I played when I was in high school, and then didn't have a guitar again until my birthday last November (mostly because the neighbors beat on my ceiling/their floor when I practice my piano and a guitar can be played quietly) . I started trying to pick it back up but I'm having major problems with my hands these days and just don't have the strength and coordination to play properly right now. Can't play my piano much either right now but I'm working on it.

I picked up Lightning as my nick many many years ago because I carry the kind of static electric charge that is normally reserved for your standard Physics classroom vandegraph machine! I did actually short out an amp once. Luckily it was the amp and not the electric guitar I was playing at the time!

It's a shame about the scarcity of tabbing online. That's how I learned to play in the first place, from printed sheet music that had the tab fully displayed instead of just the chord name. Like I said, I haven't really gone looking online for any recently, but I'm sure that will make it harder for some people to pick it up.
