Well, some might see it as the corny reply, but I have to say
my father is the greatest musician of all time.
He's always been a pioneer in moving into new mediums and he's one of the first successful professionals to move into digitally created music. He does everything on all his cds (except for the graphic design in some cases, which I sometimes do) so that he can have complete control over the finished product and not only that, but he's good at all stages of production (how many musicians can say that?). He can pick up an instrument and even if he's never played it before, he can play it with just a few minutes of getting used to the instrument. Same thing with music -- he hears it once and he can play it and even make variations on it. He mostly does easy listening and new age now, but he can play pretty much anything. He's been writing since he was a teenager and some of his work is just astounding. I would feel privileged just to know him or watch him play; being his daughter is an honor.
And my favorite song is one he wrote for me when I was little, "Music Box Dancer".
