The Toys - Top Cover Band plus Originals - Southeast Wisconsin
The Toys - Celebrating 11 years - Called one of the Best Cover Bands!
Check out their website!> http://www.thetoysband.com/
Meet The Band:
JIMMY - drums
Jimmy Knapp is the founder and band leader of The Toys. Over 10 years ago, Jimmy had a vision to be an 80's alternative dance band. So we set our course in putting together the pieces we all know today as The Toys. Well 10 years later, lots of hard work and wild, crazy nights, the band he envisioned not only became a reality but one of the top drawing bands in the state of Wisconsin thanks to great support of so many friends.
By day Jimmy is VP of construction products for a great company called Hallmark and a partner in a world class consulting firm with one of his best friends and mentor, Joe...
Jimmy's success with The Toys is one of many including a very successful run with country act Whiskey River as well as winning the 1991 Mr. Wisconsin Title in Body Building...
I Am Real, Honest, Ethical, and I AM truly a country music fan. Like Tim McGraw says... Live Like You were Dying...
GNO - guitar/vocals
Performing on stage has never been something I did just for fun. It's always been my "other job". When I think of things I like to do for fun I think of biking, boating, fishing, camping, scuba diving and hanging out with family and friends. Now don't get me wrong I love my work and I have fun doing it but it's the work that drives me to the need of performing. Lucky for me I've found a group of friends who love to work as much as I do. Plus, people seem to have fun watching me do my job. How cool is that!
My job is to entertain. I love my job. So come on out and watch me work.
DROOPY - guitar/vocals
"Bringin' the sound is what it's all about"! Touch, tone and feel. "Getting to tap into different styles keeps things exciting. Ya Baby!" A Line6 Vetta head is the heart of his stage rig; it's completely programmable and is capable of running (2) two separate amp models at once. A Fender Deluxe gets a fair share of work too! Custom Paul Reed Smith guitars are Droop's main choice, Fender Telecasters & Strats, Gibsons, Valley Arts, Ibanez, blah, blah, blah...
Other likes or things about Droopy you might not know:
... Beer (Mmmm Beer)... Clean Sheets... Low pollen count... Intelligent conversation... Camping with the Toys... Self adhesive stamps rock!... House of Harley-Davidson... Shiny things...
RUSS - bass/violin/vocals
Russ was born and raised in Racine, WI. Born in 1981, his musical tastes were shaped by that decade. He was classically trained on violin starting at the tender age of four. But how did he start at such an young age, you ask?
"My brother, who's five years older than me, had a viola that I would pluck around on. I guess my parents thought I'd like violin. And now I don't remember ever not playing," he says. There's a similar story about learning the bass guitar.
Russ started in his first band at age 13, playing local clubs and taverns (his parents had to come along), and then working up to a festival or two. He's been in many bands since, but none as popular as The Toys. He's known for his high rock vocals, flashy bass playing and energetic violin solos.
"I jump around a lot," he explains. "So I've ended up smashing my foot through two stages. I also shred a lot of bows. It's a lot more fun with a group of guys that give their all every night. It's nice to look over and see them sweating as hard as I am."
B-MAC - keys/guitar/vocals
A local music teacher and wind band director as well as a classical guitarist Brian remains to be one of the best all around musicians in the state.
